Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Specialist for Intuitional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The position reports directly to the Associate Director IP&O Budget & Finance for Intuitional Planning & Operations (IP&O) centralized Support Services unit.
Among the key duties of this position are the following
  • Overseeing state-wide (NB, Nwk, Camden & RBHS) centralized general accounting. reconciliations, billing activities, reporting, analysis, etc. the Business Specialist, provides financial oversight and oversees financial services activities related to various service billings.
  • Provides centralized accounting services to the Division of Intuitional Planning & Operations (IP&O).
  • Analyzes and reviews financial data, prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end billing reports.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), applicable regulations, and university policies and procedures.
  • Performs professional work requiring specialized to general knowledge in one or more fields of accounting/finance and a solid understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, and terminology, and applied bases in area of specialization.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in a financial/accounting function.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good communication skills, and computer literacy.
  • Ability to think strategically, handle complex organizational detail, and negotiate and resolve conflict.
  • Excellent presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same.
