Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse in Medicine – Cardiology within Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Advanced Practice Nurse participates in a collegial relationship with the physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. Performs in an expanded nursing role by providing primary care to patients, which includes taking histories, making assessments, ordering lab tests, reviewing and reporting diagnostic lab values to the physicians.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides outpatient care to General Cardiology, Device or Coumadin clinic patients, under the direction of the assigned Cardiology physician.
  • Performs in an expanded nursing role and has responsibility for meeting the needs of a determined number of patients using a primary care model.
  • Provides patient education to meet the needs of the patient/family.
  • Interfaces with physicians and other specialists concerning patient care.
  • Utilize nursing expertise and specialization to provide consultation services to other healthcare providers and patients.
  • Interfaces with families to obtain and provide information concerning patient’s medical care and progress.
  • Oversees patient pre-and post-op teaching for discharge planning.
  • Collects relevant data and prepares patient’s discharge packet including needed prescriptions.
  • Performs daily rounds, independently and with physicians and performs needed clinical tasks including progress notes, orders, dressing changes, and other care as needed.
  • Coordinates appropriate referrals to specialties for patient care. Example: consultation with surgeon.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Registered as a Professional Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate has two years or more experience, supporting a Cardiology Practice or providing clinical support in a device or coumadin clinic.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
