HR Data Management Intermediate Associate

Job Description

Summary

The University of Michigan Shared Services Center (U-M SSC) is a customer service organization focused on providing user-friendly and cost effective administrative services to the university community. The SSC offers key financial and human resource transaction services to customers through consistent processes and enabling technology. 

Reporting to the HR Data Administration Supervisor, each HR Data Management Intermediate Associate serves as an essential member of the HR Data Management Team.  Each Intermediate Associate is responsible for processing HR and J-1 Visa transactions received by the SSC and completing all associated tasks.  The HR Data Management Intermediate Associates work collaboratively with their fellow Associates, other internal SSC teams and our external business partners and customers. 

Please note that this position works primarily remotely. Going forward the position may be up to 95% remote and the candidate must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Ann Arbor.

This position will be a 3 year term limited position. 

Responsibilities*

  • Provide excellent customer service in all interactions
  • Candidate must be comfortable spending 80% of time completing transactions which demand a strong attention to detail in order to achieve high accuracy rates
  • Develop subject matter expertise in the areas of Personnel Action Request, New Hire processing, Personal data changes, J-1  Visa processing and other related HR transactions including eRecruit suspense and audit work
  • Process J-1 Visa intake paperwork which includes generating Department of State letters, and coordinating exchange visitor paperwork.
  • Handle a high volume of tickets using a case management tool to open, process, record notes and close tickets
  • Use extensive on-the-job training to process 60+ types of HR transactions
  • Audit work - Research discrepancies by examining records and other documents; comparing them against the information in MPathways (PeopleSoft) in order to resolve the discrepancies
  • Identify opportunities, support implementation of processes, and training improvements.
  • Process HR transaction request utilizing multiple systems: TeamDynamix, MPathways (PeopleSoft), Perceptive Content, Dropbox and others
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to University of Michigan policies and procedures
  • Possibility of working season days (as needed, based on urgency)
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively delivering high quality work output
  • Willingness to deliver excellent customer service
  • Effective written and verbal communications
  • Able to use critical thinking and problem solving skills in decision making
  • Ability to work in a high volume setting  
  • Capacity to develop professional relationships with multiple U-M Schools, colleges and units
  • Have learning agility in a constantly changing environment with the ability to communicate changes effectively
  • Proficient standard office computer skills with (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google)
  • Willingness to identify and utilize resources appropriately
