We are seeking a dynamic team leader to help us drive efficiency, process improvement, and technologically capable solutions in sophisticated and exciting classified IT environments. Our team is responsible for the vital mission of deploying and maintaining Linux development, and high performance computing (HPC) environments in support of classified computing for the Air and Missile Defense Sector.

 

As the leader of our Linux team, you will have the opportunity to work with and guide hardworking team members in implementing new and ground breaking technologies. You will join a team of creative problem solvers who are committed to scalable solutions in a complex secure environment.

 

As the Linux Section Supervisor you will …

  • Be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient organization and utilization of your team and its resources to meet sector needs
  • Be empowered to prioritize and manage workloads
  • Lead projects for a diverse array of ground breaking technical work
  • Strive to propose novel strategies to a wide variety of given tasks
  • Ensure compliance requirements are being met
  • Collaborate extensively with a variety of people, including our user community and team members
  • Be instrumental in crafting a culture of constant improvement
  • Empower, develop and mentor staff

Qualifications

You will meet our minimum qualifications if you…

  • Possess a BS degree (Computer Science or IT project management preferred)
  • Have 2+ years of professional experience with IT project management or systems administration  
  • Have demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability in communicating with all levels of staff and clients
  • Have or can obtain an IAT Level II Certification including though not limited to Security+ CE Certification
  • Are willing to work a significant portion of the time in a closed area
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately acquire Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government secret clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be immunized against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.

You will go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you …

  • Have 5+ years’ experience as a Linux system administrator
  • Have 5+ years experience as a Project Manager
  • Have knowledge of classified computer facility operational procedures and NISPOM, DCSA, RMF and/or other DOD security regimes.
  • Are familiar with DevOps practices and implementation with minimal direction
  • Have experience with mixed Windows and Linux environments and data center operations including infrastructure, systems monitoring, and computer clusters of 100+ computers.
  • Have proven large scale project management skills
