Overview

Investigators in the Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care are investigating psychedelic-assisted therapy to address psychological and existential distress in patients with serious illness, with a focus on developing evidence-based, culturally informed treatment models.

We are looking to recruit a Research Assistant who will help with different projects, ensuring that goals are being met for each research study. The Research Assistant’ will help with study set-up (submission to and communication with FDA and IRB), data base design, recruitment, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis as well as tracking all study documentation, regulatory maintenance, data management and quality. Tasks and responsibilities are varied and dependent upon projects aims and phase. The successful candidate will have an ability to work independently while also maintaining continuous communication between members of the research team, collaborating investigators and enrolled participants. The ideal RA demonstrate commitment to research focusing on racial health disparities and promoting health equity, has a high attention to detail and is self-motivated to execute the research procedures required within this protocol.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Research Assistant may be responsible for some or all of the following:

  • Oversight of processing of the protocol through Institutional Review Board
  • Responsibility for essential document compliance for the study and implementation of systems to monitor and ensure regulatory document collection and maintenance compliance, management of all day-to-day study activities
  • Contribution to data collection tools development, data collection (semi/structured interviews, focus groups and surveys), data storage and data quality monitoring
  • Participation in analysis
  • Assist team in the coordination of project-related activities (i.e., reports, creating presentations).Maintain the security and confidentiality of all study materials and data.
  • Conduct relevant literature searches and reviews as requested.
  • Other project-related or administrative responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in natural or social science. Experience in research focusing on racial health disparities and promoting health equity and/or clinical trials is a plus.
  • Strong academic qualifications, previous qualitative and other observational/interventional research experience are all highly preferred.

  • Excellent culturally-appropriate interpersonal skills and cultural competence
  • Dependable, motivated and willing to learn new tasks
