Job Summary

Lead the strategic marketing and communications efforts for over 30 programs in the School of Technical Specialties and new Salt Lake Technical College though all appropriate digital and traditional channels. Collaborate with SLCC leadership and regional Industry Leaders in order to identify the appropriate demographic to the program and workforce needs.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Lead SLTech & School stakeholders, both internal and external, in creating campaigns and collateral materials that support enrollment. Establish, maintain and coordinate processes for production of collateral that simultaneously observe College standards and maximize effectiveness. Ensure alignment of program collateral with larger messaging of SLTech, School, and College, as appropriate. Maintain close communication and collaboration with Institutional Marketing.
Originate and drive strategy of marketing and outreach for SLTech and School/College, working collaboratively with Institutional Marketing. Create engaging and informative original content that represents the opportunities of SLTech and School, including apprenticeships. Write in appropriate voice for all mass mediums, including radio, television and newspaper (press releases and op-ed format). Prepare presentations that make SLTech & School information accessible to a range of audiences. Deliver presentations to business, industry and governmental leaders as requested. Engage traditionally under-served, vulnerable populations through strategic communication.
Use industry-recognized primary and secondary research methods, as well as proven best practices, to create strategies that advance and protect the SLTech, School, and institution brand.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to increase brand awareness, maximize exposure for initiatives and perform community outreach.
Supervise staff, including contractors and vendors performing marketing communications work for SLTech and School of Technical & Professional Specialties, as assigned. Manage project budgets and maintain department records.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public relations or a closely related field.
Three (3) to Five (5) years direct, full-time, paid work experience in strategic marketing, public relations, or community relations management:
Experience with project budget development and management;
Experience in vendor management;
Experience with social media marketing and related data analytics;
Experience developing and coordinating campaigns, events or projects within an institutional or corporate marketing or development department.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Marketing, Public Administration or related subject areas.
Five (5) years direct, paid, full-time experience.
Experience in higher education, non-profit or agency marketing, brand awareness building, and identification of specific demographics.
Experience with planning, organizing, and implementing exhibits, special events, and presentations.
Design experience, such as proficient in the use of Adobe InDesign

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to represent the Division professionally to internal and external audiences through written and presentation skills.
Proven level of professional written communication skills through multiple platforms.
Experience in creating and facilitating complex projects through the utilization of high levels of project management skills.
Solid foundation and understanding of strategic marketing principles, strategies, digital platforms.
Ability to utilize software tools such as InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and other CRM and data analytic tools.
Experience working with Senior Level Executives in Higher Education, Government and Industry.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
