Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer II for the Office of Information Technology- Enterprise Application Services (OIT-EAS).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Under a supervision of the access management team lead , reports to the IdM Associate Director serves as a highly skilled resource to help promote and facilitate the authentication services including SSO, Federated Identity and Directory Services.
  • Function as a subject matter expert to maintain the operation and development of the Authentication services.
  • This role will also work with cross-functional teams including IdM senior solution architects, team leads, security and compliances to ensure security best practices and standards are achieved.
  • Serves as an Application Developer II that works with IdM team’s senior and leads on projects of varying scale and complexity, with a main emphasis on large-scale, highly complex initiatives for Identity Management.
  • Captures requirements, performs analysis, designs and implements systems from a combination of Open Source, commercial, and locally written products in order to maintain, extend, and evolve Identity Management services consistent with the needs of the University.
  • Performs application and system maintenance as needed. Investigates and resolves system outages and escalated client issues. Occasional after-hours work may be required.
  • Collaborate with Information Protection & Security, ensures Identity Management satisfies and facilitates policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve in weekly on-call rotation in support of application deployment and major incident handlings.
  • Work on improving and tuning authentication services (SSO, LDAP, and Kerberos) to meet the high performance goals and availability. This work include collaborating with Data, Network and Infrastructure teams.
  • Provide guidance and training as needed to team and stakeholders.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest technologies and developments in Identity Management. Maintains and develops further expertise in middleware technologies for Authentication, Authorization and Directories such as CAS, Kerberos, Shibboleth, LDAP, etc. Provides support to development staff regarding the implementation and use of the technologies.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience with a minimum of 5 years of IT enterprise solution experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate experience with account, authentication, and authorization systems like: Active
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate experience with account, authentication, and authorization systems like: Active Directory Open Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, CAS, Shibboleth, Single Sign on systems, Federated ID, SAML2 or similar.
  • Deep technical experience with SQL databases (querying and coding against databases), specifically Oracle.
  • Good experience with programming in Perl, Java, JavaScript, shell scripting, HTML.
  • Experience/Comfort with Unix (SunOS) and Linux (RedHat, Centos).
  • Strong Communication/Written/Verbal skills.
  • Work independently with minimum subversions.
  • Experience with Agile project development methodology

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
