Staff Research Associate III - cardiogenesis

Job Description

Department of Cardiology

Full Time

71937BR

Job Summary

The Staff Research Associate III (SRA III) assist the principal investigator (PI) with active experiments and the daily tasks related to the operation of a biomedical research laboratory with potential to eventually move into a lab manager role.

Our research effort is focused on understanding the gene-regulatory and epigenetic mechanisms that govern early cell fate decisions during cardiogenesis and cell state transitions in the setting of adult pathologic remodeling. To do this, we have generated and are generating several novel lines of mice and stem cells that harbor genetic alterations at specific loci which will allow us to investigate the roles for a family of histone acetyl-lysine reader proteins in these processes. Using both cutting-edge genome-scale techniques as well as traditional in vitro and in vivo assays, we will begin to dissect aspects of the chromatin regulatory mechanisms that govern early cardiac development and pathologic remodeling in heart failure.

The SRA III will have many duties relevant to these goals including generation of DNA constructs, manipulation of mouse embryos, mouse colony maintenance, and the use of standard developmental biology, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques to analyze tissues and cells.
