Summary

The Compensation Analyst Lead provides consultative advice and training in the development and administration of compensation and classification programs in a diverse, multi-mission University environment.  Reporting to the Senior Director of Staff HR, you will ensure compliance with compensation and classification federal and state laws, and implement strategies that are market competitive and internally equitable.

Responsibilities*

  • Maintain knowledge of compensation and incentive design practices, and regulatory compliance, in collaboration with central units
  • Present training materials, including analytical summaries, multifactor data analyses, research findings, and charts/graphs/infographics
  • Partner with University leadership and executives to communicate merit philosophy; maintain overall program and process guidelines.
  • Accountable to a collaborative team environment to establish consistency in team deliverables, facilitate equitable workload distribution, and organize and preserve current and legacy information
  • Work with the Director of Labor Relations and chief negotiators for multiple unions, regarding compensation for collective bargaining agreements; collaborate to develop recommendations and proposals for compensation and benefits related strategies.
  • Build relationships with senior management, UHR units, and University units to provide consultative support for compensation and classification approaches
  • Subject matter expert and mentor to staff on classification and compensation practices and administration.
  • Review unit requests for classification changes; make classification and pay level determinations and recommendations; approve unit requests for promotions and reclassifications that result in an FLSA exemption change.
  • Lead continuous improvement of compensation services and processes.

Required Qualifications*

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eight (8) years progressively responsible classification and compensation experience to include evaluating markets and trends, program design and implementation, and managing legal compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other federal and state legislation related to compensation and classification
  • Proficiency with software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HR enterprise data systems, and with compensation-related web applications. Demonstrated skills with creating Excel pivot tables, trend analyses, and cost impact analyses.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, including recommending different options, actions, and summary observations

Desired Qualifications*

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) through WorldatWork
  • Knowledge of the higher education and health care industry markets
  • Knowledge or implementation of executive and incentive compensation programs in a non-profit or higher-education environment
  • Experience with data extraction tools such as Business Objects or Crystal Reports and BI software such as Tableau

Work Locations

This role is fully remote, with the potential to travel to campus occasionally for business meetings. Remote work arrangements are reviewed annually and may be subject to change.

Additional Information

This position may be filled at the Lead or Senior level, dependent on qualifications and experience.  The required qualifications and salary reflect the Lead level, but those with lesser experience are encouraged to apply.

This position is planned for part-time 50% effort (20 hours per week), with the option for this role to expand up to a full-time 100% effort (40 hours per week) for interested candidates. The posted salary reflects the full-time rate.
