The goal is to deliver cost effective services to the University, ensure completed projects and maintenance that conform to codes and regulations, while minimizing University liabilities and disruptions caused by the maintenance, repair, building, and equipment modifications to the University.
Essential Job Duties
- Managing the preventative maintenance program for an assigned area.
- Coordinating and scheduling preventative maintenance activities as they relate to Buildings, Maintenance, and Operations.
- Managing some capital improvement projects, along with reviews for shops maintenance, troubleshooting maintenance problems, inspections, and preventative maintenance project management.
- Coordination of the mitigation and/or removal of asbestos products (insulation, glue, tile, etc) from the campus through various means and certified outsourced contractors. This may include the coordination of replacement insulation as well.
Other Responsibilities
- Organizes planned work.
- Schedules this work and delegates this work to employees or contractors in the designated areas.
- These duties may also include the creation of scope parameters, time lines, and action plans with concern to asbestos abatement or re-insulation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience/Education
Associate’s Degree in the assigned discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Some positions may require certification. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- Experience in the construction, renovation or maintenance of buildings and building systems including experience in the direction or planning of building repairs and maintenance projects or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of work methods, process techniques, resource requirements and safety considered necessary to complete needed work or service.
- Direct knowledge of one or more of the building mechanical trades with hands-on experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Solid compliance skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 90+ pounds occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from high school and five years of progressive experience.
- Four years Journey level experience in building trades working in facilities maintenance and operations.
Required License or Certification
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- NC Driver’s license required within 60 days of hire.
Valid NC Driver's License required
