Patient Coordinator, Tsai Lab

Job Description

PATIENT COORDINATOR, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory-Tsai Lab, to assist with clinical and translational research designed to evaluate whether Gamma ENtrainment Using Sensory (GENUS) stimulation can be used to help people with--or those at risk of developing--memory impairment. Through collaboration with MIT’s Clinical Research Center and faculty members across multiple disciplines at MIT and Harvard, this team is working to bring GENUS to human participants.  Responsibilities include overseeing--with input from researchers and study leaders--protocol development and IRB submissions and maintaining IRB protocols and certifications; serving as primary contact for study subjects, i.e., screening subjects for inclusion, scheduling and preparing subject study visits, escorting subjects and following up after study visits, and managing reimbursements; coordinating and participating in research protocol activities such as neuropsych testing, MRI and EEG recording, and/or sample collection; ensuring tracking and timely databasing using REDCap, Dropbox, or Google Drive; coordinating and participating in study follow-up activities, e.g., timely processing, transportation, and/or shipping samples, and analyzing study data; and performing other duties as assigned.  May be limited lab work, e.g., processing human blood samples into cells and plasma. 

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; two years’ experience working in a medical/scientific research setting or comparable technology-oriented business environment; excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; detail orientation; discretion with confidential information; proficiency with Microsoft Office; and ability to synthesize input from multiple sources, prioritize, effectively manage time, work proactively, consistently follow-through on tasks, and effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts.  PREFERRED: experience working as a scientific research coordinator, experience with MRI and EEG recording and/or working in a lab, and phlebotomy certification.  Job #22511
