Communications and Marketing Coordinator

Job Description

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING COORDINATOR, Alumni Association-Strategic Communications and Marketing (SCM), to work with SCM team members on facilitating marketing and communications projects for campaigns in support of the Alumni Association’s efforts to engage MIT alumni and friends with the Institute and one another.  Will work in partnership with client strategists and other SCM colleagues across the Alumni Association to implement programming and events’ marketing strategies for internal client stakeholders. The work will involve close engagement with staff from the Alumni Association's many areas, including Alumni Relations, Human Resources, and Strategic Talent Management, as well as other campus partners.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least one year of communications experience; knowledge of marketing best practices, preferably working in a higher ed setting and with insight towards new and emerging communications tools; excellent problem-solving, customer service, organizational, time-management, planning, project management, decision-making, and communication (written, verbal, and listening) skills; ability to explain and clarify complex information, provide meaningful feedback, and understand a client’s work to further it in an actionable way; strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; discretion and excellent judgment with confidential information; ability to prioritize assignments and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality in a demanding, high-volume work environment; and support for MIT’s diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities.  Seek a results-driven individual who demonstrates initiative and flexibility, can generate innovative solutions, welcomes change, and can work independently and collaborate as a team member who is willing to lend a hand at all times.  PREFERRED:  marketing and/or related project management certification and project management software experience.  Job #22508-6


Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends is required, especially for signature initiatives and events for the MIT Alumni Association and MIT.

This position will be hybrid, with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
