The Manager of Advising Systems & Support fulfills the responsibilities of a full-time Senior Academic Advisor or Senior Academic Coach and also provides a leadership role in through supervising Administrative Assistants (full- and part-time) and student workers who support the entire Academic Advising Center. The Manager also provides leadership and direction in the support, development, and implementation of systems supporting the department. The position is supplemental to the position of a full-time Senior Academic Advisor or Coach. The Manager of Advising Systems & Support receives an administrative stipend in addition to their base salary and requires a greater portion of time to be spent on administrative duties. The appointment as the Manager of Systems & Support is for a one-year term, renewable at the discretion of the Director of Academic Advising. Unless separate disciplinary action or institutional reorganization requires, if a Manager of Systems & Support does not continue with the supplemental position in a given year they will return to their former position without change in base salary.

Candidates to be considered for this position will be ‘internal only’ applicants of Sinclair Community College’ advising department.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Serve as an effective supervisor, leader, and team member within the department, sub-groups, or any collaborative teams assigned.
  • Interact with both Dayton AAC and other campus users of Advising systems, including but not limited to SSP, Colleague, e2e Advising. This interaction could include training, troubleshooting, administrative maintenance, and other requirements based on the system.
  • Ensure service provided to students by staff members within the assigned group is accurate, that coverage is provided for the open hours and special events of the Academic Advising Center, and that excellence in service to students is a priority.
  • Meet all requirements of a Senior Academic Advisor/Coach
  • Serve as an active member of Academic Advising Leadership in the development and implementation of strategic plans for the represented community and department at large.
  • Demonstrate leadership and performance that is innovative, well-organized, supportive of institutional goals and fosters individual excellence and morale.
  • Effectively represent the department, community, and college in meetings with internal and external constituents.

Requirements
  • The minimum of a Master’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ work experience in advising, higher education, counseling, social work or a discipline area related to the advising community assigned is required.
  • As an alternative to the requirements with a Master’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years’ experience including significant student advising responsibilities within an institution of higher education and a willingness to pursue a graduate degree may be considered. Combinations of higher education experience inside or outside Sinclair to meet these requirements may be considered at the discretion of the Director of Academic Advising. Demonstrated excellence in academic advising, with no active corrective action plans in place.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills leading to the successful completion of projects and daily duties.
  • A work ethic and attitude that can serve as a model for others.
  • Preference will be given to applicants currently serving as academic advisors/coaches at Sinclair, though previous advising experience will be considered.
