Membership & Family Program Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Status: Full-Time

Starting Salary: $36,000/annually

(commensurate with experience)

Reports to: Branch Executive

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Branch Executive and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley YMCA Association, the Program Director will oversee the development and operations of all adult and youth services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develops, implements, and manages program planning to promote program growth. Ensures high- quality, member-focused programs and events through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff.

Serves as a role model of core values to staff and the community.

Executes strategies to ensure member and program participant retention.

Manages budgets related to the position.

Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and supports staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provide leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/ boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.

Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program and membership standards are met and safety procedures are followed.

Coordinates special events and activities.

Provides data and reports as required.

Takes an active role in the membership sales and retention goals.

Develops and maintains relationships with all community partners and serves as a liaison to community partners, committee(s) and advisory board(s).

Serves as an important member of the association’s teams/task teams with emphasis on specific areas of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Two or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Willingness to obtain appropriate YMCA aquatic certification related to the work; LG, LGI, Y-Swim and all other certifications is preferred but not required.

Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.

Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time and reliable transportation.

Must be able to interpret, adopt, and apply guidelines and procedures.

Must be creative and enthusiastic to staff and program participants.

Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with families, children, and other staff.

Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.

Ability to maintain emotional control and composure in turbulent, challenging and changing conditions.

Must be a team player, dependable, detail-oriented, maintain high personal morale performing job functions, meet deadlines, and maintain prompt and regular attendance.
