The Department of Biological Sciences at Chicago State University (CSU) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position in the areas of ecology and environmental biology. Successful applicants will be expected to establish an externally funded research program; teach non-majors, majors, and graduate (M.S.) courses; and contribute to the service mission of the department. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2023. Research experience on the impact of climate change in urban environments is preferred. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an ability to teach non-majors and majors’ biology courses including introductory-level biology, ecology, environmental biology, environmental sciences, and biometrics to undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) students. Applicants are expected to have a track record and commitment to excellence in teaching, establishing an externally funded research lab, and mentoring thesis lab research students. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience with evidence of scholarly productivity, and demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. We especially welcome applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented and historically marginalized groups.
