Overview
Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC’s 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator in Behavioral Research and Training Institute at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator supervises and oversees selected aspects of the Next Second Chance Program focused on addressing the needs of justice-involved behavioral health individuals across the lifespan.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides effective leadership and support in fulfilling the goals and objectives of the Next Second Chance Program projects.
  • Effectively and appropriately initiates a process of consultation, needs assessment and systems analysis to identify goals and objectives for education, training, consultation, technical assistance and program development in designated areas.
  • Provides information to Program Manager on areas of concern or need identified in the course of providing consultation or contact with outside agencies. 
  • Responsible for assisting with the department’s budget, coordinates fiscal procedures and maintains records associated with grant accounts, and ensures funds are utilized according to policy and regulations.
  • Identifies project consultants, assists with development of new curricula, assists in developing Professional Service Agreements to facilitate contracting, and oversees project consultants’ compliance with the agreements. 
  • Supervises project staff. Recommends the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, salary increases, transfer and/or disciplining of employees and other personnel changes. Supports staff with curriculum development as it relates to principles of adult learning, including writing objectives and educational plans for training programs. 
  • Contributes to the development of all materials distributed to stakeholders, including PowerPoint presentations and written materials. Develops resources related to technology and online learning to further project goals including increased access to learning materials for a diverse workforce. 
  •  Prepares training materials (e.g. PowerPoint presentations) and presents on the project to individuals and groups identified by the Program Manager.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD, PsyD or EdD in a mental health discipline plus one (1) year of experience in consultation or training or a Master’s Degree with an additional four (4) years of related experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience training mental health professionals on how to effectively implement services for children and families with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with technical assistance and curriculum development.
  • Experience working in an out-of-home treatment center for youth.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with children and families with complex behavioral and emotional needs. 
  • Strong writing skills and computer skills (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
