Research Scientist, Center for Behavioral Health & Technology

Job Description


The Center for Behavioral Health & Technology (CBHT) at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Scientist to join the team of Dr. Karen Ingersoll to execute clinical trial start-up, recruitment, enrollment, and execution of grant-funded research projects. In addition, you will contribute to the development of clinical research protocols, assist in the grant writing process, analyze data, conduct literature reviews, and participate in manuscript preparation as applicable to Dr. Ingersoll and the team’s current and future research. Strong time management and communication skills, intermediate data analysis skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required.

The incumbent will participate in multiple research team projects and may lead aspects of studies.  The incumbent will contribute to writing study protocols and reports for the study sponsors, papers, and grant applications.  The research scientist may lead development of abstracts for scientific meetings and will be expected to assist in the development of new research proposals and programs, as time permits. The incumbent will be expected to participate in team meetings and CBHT-related seminars, as well as work with students, postdoctoral fellows and collaborators associated to the team. 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Full-time research or scholarship at the University of Virginia
  • Supervised by a senior scholar; and allows the appointee to publish the results of their research or scholarship
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in hand by start date. ABD may be accepted. Experience with mHealth or other digital health interventions, HIV care, or indigenous health desirable

This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. This position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
