Faculty Position Opening:

The Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate Professor level. Outstanding scientists with research expertise broadly related to cardiovascular pharmacology and chemical biology are highly encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates would expand current Department programs including GPCR signaling, signal transduction, structural biology, ion channel biology, neuropharmacology, and cancer pharmacology. Outstanding opportunities exist for collaboration with both basic and physician-scientists, a broad array of departments, as well as those having joint appointments in the Vascular Medicine Institute, Brain Institute, Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, and the Hillman Cancer Institute. Applicants should be highly collaborative and envision integrating with allied researchers and physician-scientist teams in basic and clinical departments. Applicants will be expected to seek and maintain a high level of extramural support, participate in the teaching of medical and graduate students, and mentor both graduate students and Ph.D. or MD postdoctoral fellows.

Successful candidates will join a vibrant, diverse, and collaborative Top 10 department based in a Top 3 NIH-funded University that provides excellent opportunities for continuing career development, as well as excellent laboratory space, core facilities, and startup support. A Ph.D. in Pharmacology or a related discipline (i.e. biochemistry, physiology, pathology, etc.) and/or an M.D. degree is required. Additionally, an established track record of extramural funding, excellence in research productivity, and a national reputation in their field of interest are required.
