JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an Assistant Research Professor in the area of computational mesoscale materials science and software package development for broad dissemination. The appointment is a limited-term, non-tenure line research faculty position.

Primary duties will include: 

• Develop phase-field computer codes of mesoscale structure evolution

• Converting phase-field research codes to a software package appropriate for broad dissemination

• Assist in writing proposals to funding agencies and Penn State seed programs

• Co-supervise graduate students and undergrad students in applying the deployed phase-field package

• Prepare manuscripts for publications and research reports to sponsors

The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in engineering or physical sciences background, and at least 5 years of related experience in the phase-field method of quantum materials during Ph.D., and prior postdoctoral research.
