Job Description:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a full-time, research track faculty member, at an academic rank of Research Assistant Professor, to join our team of highly productive clinical and basic science faculty in the Division of Vascular Surgery. The successful candidate will conduct research on the relationship between vascular surgery and outcomes using single cell and spatial omics. This position requires advanced skills in Integrative Genomics, Precision medicine, Deep Learning, and high-throughput sequencing data analysis.  The individual filling this position will have primary responsibility for creation and full implementation of these analytical approaches, the development of experimental designs, and the presentation and publication of research findings. The applicant will lead the Surgery Departments Genomic Core and supervise existing staff on high throughput sequencing methodology and data analyses. Experience in the analysis of copy number variants, disease markers, and epigenetics is a plus. The Department of Surgery (http://www.surgery.ufl.edu ) ranks in the top ten of all departments nationally in NIH funding and the successful candidate will contribute to maintaining this top ten status. The Health Science Center is located on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, and is adjacent to the Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an advanced degree (PhD, MD, Sc.D. or equivalent) and a record of accomplishment in conducting extramurally-funded (NIH or equivalent) research, and have completed a postdoctoral training program.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership skills, advanced surgical skills in murine lung transplantation and a track record of working with basic science/clinical faculty.  The successful candidate will possess advanced skills in immunology and pulmonary biology.
