Vice President, Finance

Job Description

VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCEMIT Federal Credit Union (MITFCU), to oversee and direct the activities and staff of the accounting department. Will ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies, and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); and establish, coordinate, and maintain an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the MITFCU.  Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the financial, accounting, and bookkeeping functions; developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures and ensuring that they reflect current regulations and are in strict compliance with GAAP; monitoring, approving, and/or implementing cost control activities; providing financial reporting, financial analyses, cash management, and forecasting reports; preparing finance projections and managing investment accounting activities; preparing budgets; identifying deposit and loan rates; assisting with lease negotiation and major purchasing decisions; identifying areas for improvement; and keeping staff up-to-date on trends and general credit union information.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; ten years’ accounting and financial management experience; excellent analytical, leadership, management, interpersonal, coaching, training, and oral and written communication and presentation skills; ability to build relationships/alliances; keeping current on changes in technology, electronic, and alternative delivery methods; comprehensive knowledge of internal accounting and financial reporting systems, investments, GAAP, pricing and profitability models, cost-benefit analysis, and asset and liability management principles/programs; working knowledge of financial service rules and regulations and consumer legislation, i.e., Reg. Z, B, etc.; solid knowledge of deposit and lending products; ability to work strategically when executing initiatives, making decisions, and advancing the MITFCU’s vision/goals; ability to work in a fast-paced and goal- and team-oriented organization; and advanced-level knowledge of Microsoft Office.  PREFERRED:  certified public accountant (CPA) and a master’s degree.  Job #22505-11
