Job Description:

The Recruitment/Retention Specialist performs duties in support of the Student Support Services grant relating to the programs, services, and resources available to assist in the administrative functions of the program, as well as recruitment and retention of eligible participants.  Establishes a network of resources within the organization to assist in recruitment and within and outside the organization to assist in retention, graduation and transfer efforts. Prepares timely written reports, graphs, and statistical data on recruitment and retention efforts. Relieves the director of administrative detail with considerable latitude for exercising judgment and discretion. Reports to the Project Director, Student Support Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Screens and directs all general office communications, maintains all files and is responsible for all administrative office functions.

Plans and develops objectives for recruitment/retention purposes; participates in policy and procedure development.

Assists in developing recruiting materials, such as flyers, brochures, graphics, emails, and social media posts, to be used in support of the grant.

Works with the director to identify target populations and develop recruiting schedule.

Plans and organizes on-campus and virtual recruitment programs for prospective students; plans agenda, gives presentations, and schedules speakers as necessary.

Provides support to participants through promoting non-cognitive skills, a positive environment, and supplemental coaching for retention.

Assists Academic Advisor/Life Skills Coaches with peer coach management and participant travel planning and implementation.

Disseminates informational material to prospective and/or continuing students, such as program services, requirements, and class schedules.

Interviews prospective students individually and answers questions regarding program requirements and benefits.

Represents the program by giving presentations at various activities such as at Convocation, SPD workshops, in classes, college student events, and departmental meetings.

Supports Advisor/Coaches by tracking students' progress through the program and assists in coaching students regarding personal and/or academic issues; refers to other sources of advising, coaching, or counseling as needed.

Prepares reports documenting activities.

Serves as liaison between various departments or agencies and the student, clarifying procedures and practices.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Provides excellent customer service through the use of appropriate written and verbal communications including, but not limited to, the telephone, social media, email, voicemail, face-to-face, and written correspondence.

Possess and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to create and make presentations to individuals or groups. 

Use of computer software to create reports and correspondence, grant materials, track data, etc.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer software program including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

Possess and use basic mathematical skills.

Displays a high level of enthusiasm and motivation and willingness to take the initiative with new recruiting ideas.

 Ability to work with a diverse population and effectively respond to questions from students, clients, customers, and the general public.

Daily use of normal office equipment.

Scheduled work involves some evenings, weekends, and/or variations in work hours for recruiting projects, registration times, and special college and/or community events.

May have occasional in-district and overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications:   Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree and four years office/administrative or recruitment/retention experience. College coursework may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.  Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position.  A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in administrative and microcomputer applications. Experience in recruiting and/or retention practices. Prefer candidate to be a military veteran. Preference will be given to qualified individuals from a background similar to the target population.

Annual Salary: $32,175.00 ($16.50/hour)
