Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Grants Administrator for the Public Health Research Institute within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Administration, the Senior Grants Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of assigned projects, grants, contracts and all other accounts associated with research and sponsored programs activities at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School. The Senior Grants Administrator will also act as liaison with other School and University Departments.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Monitors all research grant proposals prior to submission to Federal, State, Corporate and other agencies to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to faculty, administrators and other staff on proposal development and grant applications including development of project budgets for internal and external support opportunities from Federal, State, Corporate and other funding agencies.
  • Develops internal policies and procedures regarding research grant and contract proposals and applications.
  • Manages process to centralize and prioritize responses to internal and external requests for data for grant and non -grant (restricted) accounts.
  • Reconciles award activity and provides reports to the Principal Investigators, Departments and Centers.
  • Review and ensure the awards Budget and other data elements in the University financial system accurately reflect the terms of the award.
  • Facilitates communication and problem resolution relative to pre- or post-award activities.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field plus six (6) years of experience involving research and sponsored programs administration, ideally in an academic environment.
  • Must have plus six (6) years of experience in pre-award and post award.
  • Experience with financial electronic management systems (such as Banner, Peoplesoft, MarketPlace, and Oracle).
  • Strong financial accounting expertise specific to biomedical
    research, sponsored award fund spending, both non-profit and for-profit sources, as well as designated/discretionary spending as it relates to research activities.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the education requirement.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge and expertise of Federal and State agency regulations, policies, procedures and laws applicable to sponsored programs activities.
  • Must have understanding of research grant and contract proposal development and management for both clinical and basic biomedical science research.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
