Position Highlights

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to join the Walti lab at the University of Arizona in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Our lab is interested in studying the interaction of chaperones with amyloids causing neurodegenerative disorders with a focus on Hsp60 and Alzheimer’s disease. We mainly employ solution-state NMR but also a wide range of other biophysical methods, such as cryo-EM, EPR spectroscopy or fluorescence measurements. We are looking for a highly motivated, independent, and creative researcher to supervise and bring own ideas to existing tasks and start new projects. Candidates from a broad background are welcome to apply, however previous experience in either solution-state NMR or cryo-electron microscopy is a must.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The main duty is research. The postdoctoral fellow will be preparing samples and analyzing data with NMR and/or EM, writing papers and grants and present our observations on conferences. Mentoring will be an important part in the job, which is training Undergraduate and Graduate students. Further duties include collaborations and maintaining laboratory operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PHD in Chemistry or related field upon hire
  • Previous experience in protein expression and purification and NMR or cryo-EM
  • Previous experience in either solution-state NMR or cryo-electron microscopy is a must
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in isotopically labelling of proteins, in solution-state NMR, EPR, or cryo-EM experiments is a plus.
