JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill one Postdoctoral Scholar position in high-energy astrophysics. 

The successful candidate will develop and perform neutron star merger simulations, analyze their output, and disseminate the results through publications in scientific and oral presentations at national and international conferences. The postdoctoral scholar is also expected to participate in the advising of graduate and undergraduate students and in outreach and broader impact initiatives of NP3M. Additionally, there will be ample opportunity to collaborate with other members of the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos, which includes, among others, Abhay Ashtekar, Eugenio Bianchi, Martin Bojowald, Chad Hanna, Sarah Shandera, and B.S. Sathyaprakash. This position requires a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field.
