The Department of Occupational Therapy invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Associate to support the Professor and Chair of the Department. Candidates should demonstrate a strong research background and a successful record providing complex research supports.

Qualifications include:

  • Earned doctoral degree (PhD, or equivalent) in or relevant to occupational therapy or public health
  • Significant expertise in qualitative methods
  • Advanced proficiency in quantitative methods, statistical modeling, data management, analysis, and reporting
  • A record of emerging professional engagement
  • Strong writing skills


The Postdoctoral Associate will support a portfolio of NIH funded studies, data collection and management, data analysis and manuscript preparation as well as quality assurance. They serve as primary point person to facilitate communications among the clinical and investigator teams and with central administration to develop and adhere to project milestones for research projects. Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with area researchers and clinicians to support recruitment of study participants
  • Assess and characterize human subjects
  • Manage study participant recruitment, determination of eligibility, and administer informed consent
  • Support study operations for data collection involving participants to ensure fidelity of data collection protocols and data management
  • Perform study analysis, author reports and products, and collaborate with additional study sites prepare manuscript
  • In close coordination with PI, administer IRB protocols
  • Prepare initial, modifications, and continuing review applications for expedited IRB review or exempt determinations
  • May author and/or co-author peer-reviewed papers and abstracts as well as participate in the dissemination of research findings through presentations at national and/or local conferences for scientific and non-scientific audiences
  • Supervise student research assistants

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent in Public Health or related field
  • Knowledge of research methods and survey design tools such as Qualtrics, NVivo (or other qualitative software), and/or SPSS (or other statistical analysis software) Strong publication record
