Job Description


We are looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to help lead one or both of the following projects: 1) promoting bone regeneration in young and aged animals by tuning mechanical microenvironments of osteoprogenitor cells; and 2) developing image-based, data-driven assessments of bone strength and failure mechanisms in the human spine. Both projects are highly collaborative, with participants from multiple departments, universities, and/or industry. This position is in the Skeletal Mechanobiology and Biomechanics Lab, led by Dr. Elise Morgan, http://morganresearchlab.org , and is strongly affiliated with the Center for Multiscale and Translational Mechanbiology, http://www.bu.edu/mechanobiology .


Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in engineering, biology, mathematics, biochemistry, or a related technical field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong ability to work in team-based environments
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: cell culture, surgical procedures in small animals, histology, RNAseq, immunohistochemistry, image analysis, machine learning, finite element analysis, mechanical testing, and/or digital volume correlation

This position will provide valuable experience for the Postdoctoral Associate in learning new experimental and computational skills in the multidisciplinary fields of mechanobiology and biomechanics. This position is well suited for those interested in subsequently pursuing research-oriented careers in academia or industry. Career mentoring, professional development, and fostering of diverse and inclusive environments are all areas of emphasis in the Skeletal Mechanobiology and Biomechanics Lab as well as Boston University.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible appointment for one year initially, with the possibility of renewal on a yearly basis.
