Position Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Isaacs, Department of Entomology, invites applications for a Research Associate (postdoctoral) position to study insect management in blueberry farms within a multidisciplinary team.
The position will include field-based research and supporting laboratory research on management of pests and pollinators in commercial blueberry farms. For applicants with a focus on pest management, projects will include biological control of spotted-wing drosophila through native parasitoids and a recently-approved exotic parasitoid species as well as integration of biological control with other management approaches. Our lab group is also very involved in blueberry pollination research, combining field and greenhouse studies to improve pollination of this perennial crop. Applicants with experience and interest in pollination could focus more of their time in this aspect of the lab’s research. Contribution to the lab’s ongoing exploration of Integrated Pest and Pollinator Management is expected and could guide the research direction. This position is well supported by research technicians, the collaborative network of university-based research and extension staff, and network of growers working with our group.
The initial appointment is for one year with possible extension for additional year based on performance and funding availability.
Our lab group, the Department of Entomology, and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Michigan State University are committed to achieving excellence by creating and sustaining an accessible and inclusive culture that values cultural and academic diversity.
