Essential Job Duties

Primary purpose of position:
The Research Business Officer will work under the direction of the Institute Director and Institute Managing Director, completing institute and grant administrative duties related to ongoing research trials at Trauma Recovery Department. This position will develop research study budgets, provide financial support to the Institute’s clinical trials team, and create overall institute budgets and projections. In addition, this position will monitor institute and study expenditures, expense tracking and reconciliation, assist in the budget planning and preparation of grant submissions, regular reporting of research financial reports to the Director and Managing Director. The Research Business Officer will work to organize, execute, and monitor the implementation of new and existing clinical trials and institute budget tracking procedures.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Tasks may include:
• Draft research study budgets.
• Create and maintain institute budget
• Budget/expense tracking
• Institute budget projections
• Scheduling and coordination of meetings and conference calls
• setting up meeting sin Webex and coordinating schedules with internal and external stakeholders.
• Write up and distribute meeting agenda and minutes
• Travel coordination for research conferences and research site visits
• Purchasing and reconciliation -Investigating and following up on new opportunities for the research program
• Website design and editing
• Development of training materials and resources
• Development of administrative SOPs
• Participating in team meetings and other program-related meetings

Minimum Experience/Education

High School Diploma and at least 3 years of relevant experience working. Proficiency with software applications including all Microsoft Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint.

Department Required Skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, and internet browsers
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with accounting practices, budgeting, and bookkeeping processes and procedures.
-Accounting expertise and knowledge of accounting principles and practices is essential to be successful in this position.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
-Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
-Ability to identify needs and develop and implement improvements with evaluation expertise.
-Strong attention to detail
- Excellent problem – solving and researching skills are required.
-Ability to clearly, concisely, professionally, and effectively communicate in writing and verbally with staff, faculty, and individuals in other organizations.
-Prior experience with grant budgeting at an academic institution is preferred
