Job Summary | The Mimche Lab is seeking a highly motivated and energetic post-doctoral research associate to support research efforts aimed at deciphering the molecular mechanism of axonal guidance cues in the pathogenesis of fibrotic diseases, including scleroderma, idiopathic pulmonary fiibrosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The successful candidate will also participate in translational research activities aimed at characterizing potential novel compounds for the treatment of fibrosis. The position will be based in the Department of Pathology Division of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Utah School of Medicine, ranked among the top 30 public research universities in the nation. |

Minimum Qualifications | Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Applicants must have a PhD in immunology or other scientific disciplines in a related field. Knowledge and understanding of modern molecular biology, immunology and biochemical techniques including FACS cell sorting and next generation sequencing data analysis is a plus. Strong analytical and computer skills are required, including proficiency with basic data analysis programs (Excel, GraphPad Prism, sequence analysis software, etc.) and application of statistics. A record of accomplishment and publication in English language journals. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
Preferences | Preference will be given to recent PhD graduates. Prior knowledge and experience in fibrosis research are desirable. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal, skills to communicate objectives and results. |
