A Staff Scientist position is available in the Radiopharmaceutical Laboratory (RPL), within the Molecular Imaging Branch, Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.

The RPL develops novel PET and theranostic agents for the evaluation of cancer and response to therapy. The lab focuses on small molecule targeting including biologics and a range of short and long half life radioisotopes. The lab includes “hot lab space” where radiopharmaceuticals can be evaluated in a safe environment, a microPET/CT and microSPECT/CT animal scanners and an array of analytic devices. The lab has access to a unique animal facility that allows animals to be scanned repeatedly. The lab is complemented by the Chemical Synthesis Center where dedicated radiochemists produce customized agents for testing.
We are seeking a scientist who has documented experience in designing and testing radiopharmaceuticals in the pre-clinical setting. Familiarity with common analytic methods including cell-free and cell binding assays, blocking studies, biodistribution studies and interpretation of small animal imaging is mandatory. Expertise in protein chemistry and experience with antibodies and antibody fragments and related radiochemistry is highly desirable. The successful applicant should have experience in leading a team of trainees and lab workers and have skills in organizing experiments in a time efficient manner. The successful applicant should also be an author or co-author on publications pertaining to radiopharmaceutical development.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or similar level of education in biological sciences, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience. Knowledge and skills in radiochemistry, particularly protein chemistry is highly desired. Skills in the Interpretation of preclinical in vivo data relating to radiopharmaceutical experiments should be demonstrated. Strong English communication skills are required. Demonstrated publication record in preclinical radiopharmaceutical development is also required.
