Job Summary

Post-Doc position in Geographic Information Sciences using Unity game engine. The project is to develop a cyber exercise game for the Army Cyber Institute (ACI) at West Point.

Job Responsibilities

The post-doc will:

• Independently conduct research to include, but not limited to: constructing hypotheses, design and planning of research studies, data management, model development, conducting experiments or assessments, analysis and interpretation of research results, and evaluation of research techniques.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
• Disseminate and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals, reports, meetings, workshops, and conferences.
• Assist in the writing of grant proposals.
• May assist in teaching classes.
• May mentor and assist undergraduate and/or graduate students
• May assist in managing research laboratories.

Required Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in game design and development, computer science, or geographical information sciences.
• Experience in Geographic Information Systems and Unity game engine strongly preferred. 
• Demonstrates the ability to plan and execute research.
• Knowledge of applicable research methods and analytical procedures.
• Knowledge of publishing/reporting requirements.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Demonstrates potential for original or collaborative scholarship.
• Scientific writing skills demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications

IGM: The School of Interactive Games and Media (IGM)is one of six administrative units within GCCIS. IGM has over 30 full-time faculty and is committed to excellence in teaching and research. IGM offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in Game Design and Development and New Media Interactive Development, a Master of Science in Game Design and Development, and an accelerated BS/MS in Game Design and Development. IGM provides leadership, administrative, financial, and logistical support to nearly 900 undergraduate students (including mandatory co-op experience) and about 60 graduate students – making it one of the largest degree programs at RIT. IGM is currently ranked in the top 10 of the Princeton Review, US News & World Report, and the Animation Career Review for Game Design and Development programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  IGM is also home to several labs and research centers, especially in the areas of GeoGames, Geographic Information Science and Technology, and Open Sources Data and Software. IGM also plays a large research and delivery role working closely with RIT’s MAGIC (Media, Arts, Games, Interaction & Creativity) Center, which is a university-wide collaboration for research and publishing in games and digital media. The MAGIC Center is comprised of both a university research & development center and an independent game publishing studio.
