Summary

This role will become part of a multidisciplinary research team involved in the advancement of a cardiovascular disease biobank and would be responsible for identifying, screening and enrollment of research participants.  This role is ideal for persons interested in pursuing medical school or furthering their career in the field of health care or research. 

Please note that this position is a 1-year term position.

Responsibilities*

  • Identify, screen, and enroll patients from Michigan Medicine utilizing in-person and remote consent methods.
  • Assist with collection of medical information, laboratory data and questionnaires from patients through interview, an online database system, phones calls or electronic medical record.
  • Perform study-specific tests in clinic such as mini-mental, grip test, and walk test.
  • Coordinate blood and tissue sample collections.
  • Biospecimen transportation and storage.
  • Perform data management, such as entering information into web application, laboratory information system, and Microsoft Excel.

Functional supervision will be given by the Principal and Co-Investigators, MI-AORTA Leadership Team and Project Manager; administrative supervision will be provided by the Clinical Research Program Manager.?

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science or health-related field.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to sustain a high level of organization.
  • Punctual and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical and research terminology.
  • Prior research experience.
  • Experience with MiChart, REDCap web application, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with patients in a healthcare setting.

Work Schedule

Shift/Hours/Days:

In office, M-F with core hours roughly 8am – 4pm with some flexibility (not to exceed 40 hours/week). 

Tentative start date: May 2023. 

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
