Full-Time; Tenure-Track Optional

A Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Pediatric Dentist is sought to provide didactic and clinical instruction to predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees. Administrative abilities and scholarly interests in Community Oral Health are desirable. A loan repayment grant is available for eligible applicants.

May include calibration of extramural faculty members.

 



Qualifications

 

  • Didactic course development and delivery
  • Instruction in predoctoral lab
  • Moderation of literature reviews and other seminars as needed
  • Mentorship of resident and student research projects
  • Clinical supervision of dental students and residents involved in patient care
  • Direct patient care possibilities to be developed
  • Coordination of community outreach efforts and clinical rotations in extramural community clinics.
  • Additional duties at the discretion of the department chair.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • DDS/DMD
  • Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry, Board Certified or Board Eligible Tennessee Dental License

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES: 

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks a vibrant pediatric dentist to join our passionate team of academic clinicians.

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry provides comprehensive oral health care for pediatric patients from infancy through adolescence and special needs adults. The pediatric dental attending will be responsible for didactic lecturing and clinical supervision of dental students and residents, along with serving as the liaison for community outreach events and community clinic rotations. Some travel may be required to manage activities in remote clinic sites.  Additionally, the faculty member may provide direct patient care in our extramural clinic and the operating room. Opportunities for dedicated time for scholarly activities and professional development are available. 

Qualified candidates must possess a DDS/DMD degree or international equivalent; a certificate from a CODA-accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry; Board certification/eligibility by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry; and be eligible for a dental license in the State of Tennessee. Demonstration of a commitment to inclusion and diversity is essential. A Master's degree in Public Health or community health experience is desirable. The position offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. In addition, this position is eligible for a HRSA-funded loan repayment program grant for individuals within 5 years from specialty program completion who are citizens, US nationals, or permanent residents of the United States.
