Postdoctoral Researcher

Job Description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research. We are seeking a highly motivated research scholar to study the mechanisms by which age-associated accumulation of senescent cells contributes to AD pathogenesis and progression. The successful candidate will utilize a wide range of state-of-the-art approaches, including cellular & molecular biology techniques, multi-omics analysis, cerebral organoids, neuropathological techniques, cognitive tests, and AD transgenic animal models, to delineate how senescent glial cells affect amyloid plaque formation, tau hyperphosphorylation, neurogenesis and cognitive functions. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in neurobiology, molecular cell biology, or other related fields. Previous experience with AD transgenic animal models and confocal microscopy is preferred.

Interested applicants should send a CV, a cover letter describing your research experience /interests/future career goals, and the contact information for three references to Dr. Gavin Wang at wangy@musc.edu. Competitive salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
