Position Summary

The successful candidate will have academic training and expertise in animal behavior and welfare and contribute to the instructional mission of the Animal Science department. They must be able to effectively instruct and provide a high-quality instructional experience for undergraduate and graduate students in the department. The individual is expected to teach courses in animal behavior and welfare, ethical issues in animal science, and assist with instruction of other courses including introductory animal science and other courses as needed. They will also lead an education abroad program and serve as an advisor for student clubs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating departmental program assessment, accreditation and academic program review.

The individual must effectively interact with faculty, staff, and students including those of different demographic, ethnic, gender, and cultural backgrounds; develop innovative instructional approaches; and have a commitment to on-going professional development in their assignment. An understanding of and commitment to experiential learning and the land grant mission are essential for success.

Required Degree

Masters -Animal Science


Minimum Requirements

An earned Master’s degree in Animal Science or a closely related field with training and expertise in animal behavior and welfare. A demonstrated record of teaching experience relevant to the position.


Desired Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have experience in teaching at the college level, and experience in program evaluation and assessment.
