The Oncology Research Department at Amgen is seeking a creative and motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate whether metabolic adaptations of cancer cells can be exploited to develop therapeutics with enhanced selectivity for tumors over normal tissues. The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with scientists in Medicinal Chemistry and the Induced Proximity Platform to conduct cutting-edge independent research aimed at utilizing the overactive autophagy-lysosome system of cancer cells to selectively degrade key oncology targets. The postdoctoral fellow will share the results of their research through publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at international scientific conferences.

The candidate will join a vibrant postdoc community that supports their career development. This position is for three years with an optional one-year extension.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph. D. at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph. D. in Chemical Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, or a related field
  • Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by first author publications in high-quality journals and presentations at external meetings and conferences.
  • Expertise with current laboratory techniques in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry such as cell culture, immunocytochemistry, western blot, and flow cytometry
  • Collaborative, knowledgeable, curious, and highly motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills

The annual salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $77,626 $86,250.
