Position Information

The Director of GradSuccess provides leadership, strategic and financial planning, reporting, and overall management of GradSuccess which is housed in the Graduate Division.

The Director is responsible for planning and execution of academic support, mentorship and community building, and professional development programs for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Programs include Graduate Student Mentorship Program, Graduate Writing Center, Teaching Assistant Development Program (TADP), University Teaching Certificate (UTC), Graduate Student Resource Center and GradQuant. The Director also researches and proposes new and/or expanded graduate student support programs. Develops and implement programs and workshops that further the professional development of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Programming and workshops include, but are not limited to job search strategies, securing extramural funding, navigating the academic workplace, and wellness. The Director will have primary responsibility for hiring, training, supervising career staff and student staff. The budgeted hiring range for this position is $73,850 - $88,000.

Minimum Requirements

Ability in problem identification and reasoning.

Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems using persuasion and leadership.
Understanding and knowledge of academic and professional needs and concerns of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
Excellent communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, including to large groups.
Ability to identify problems, verbal communication, organizational skills, and leadership skills.
Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
Experience interacting with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, staff and administrators.


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.

Experience teaching at the college/university level

Experience with writing grants for extramural funding

Experience maintain websites

Administrative experience in higher education or similar environment.
