Job Description


The Administrative Manager reports into the Department Chairman and is responsible for directing the major financial and administrative operations of the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology which includes but not limited to: Manage and prepare various visa classification applications for J-1, H-1B, F-1, and TN-1 for prospective students, postdoctoral associates, visiting and research scholars, and new faculty hires, monitor and track sick and vacation time for staff and faculty, process and approve weekly paid employee payroll, administer and monitor all on-boarding activities, and act as mediator in the solution of personnel issues within the department.


  • Must have a Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have experience with planning and monitoring departmental budgets and discretionary accounts.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communications skills; must be comfortable working with technology such as BU systems, Microsoft Office applications, etc.
  • Must be comfortable being an independent contributor as well as a working in a team oriented environment.
  • Must be organized and demonstrate strong prioritization skills.
  • Must have prior experience in an administrative manager role.
