Summary

The University of Michigan Health Information Technology and Services (HITS) MiChart Reporting and Analytics Suite (Epic Cogito) Administration team is seeking a Cogito Systems Administrator. The Cogito Administration team develops, supports, and maintains Epic's Analytics Suite to support our mission to provide the highest quality patient care, research, and medical education. 

The successful candidate will collaborate with our team of administrators, developers, and analysts to provide build support to Michigan Medicine's MiChart application teams. You will also collaborate with our team to support and develop data warehouse environments, define and document standards, policies, and procedures for infrastructure applications.

Responsibilities*

  • Work with Reporting Infrastructure team to support Oracle, SQL Server, SAP BusinessObjects, Windows Servers, and Crystal Reports 
  • Develop extract, transform, and load (ETL) procedures using T-SQL, PL/SQL, SQL Server Integration Services, Informatica, Powershell script 
  • Support upgrade, installation, and configuration of server and application software 
  • Provide build support to Michigan Medicine's MiChart application teams as they implement custom reporting deliverables 
  • Support and develop data warehouse environments. Define and document standards, policies, and procedures for infrastructure applications 
  • Perform periodic security tests and security monitoring 
  • Requires on-call availability on team rotation outside of normal working hours 

Required Qualifications*

Required Qualifications for Senior Position: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 to 7 years of systems analysis/programming in a business environment 
  • Experience in Healthcare is preferred

Required Qualifications for Intermediate Position: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of systems analysis/programming activities in a business environment 
  • Experience in Healthcare is preferred

Desired Qualifications*

  • Three or more years of experience working in a Healthcare environment
  • Strong SQL Skills
  • Epic Certification in Cogito Systems Administration, Cogito analytics suite, Clarity or Caboodle 
  • Experience in data presentation and visualization
  • Experience with T-SQL or PL/SQL
  • Experience with Windows server and SQL Server administration
  • Experience with SAP BusinessObjects server administration, Crystal Reports
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services, Powershell script
  • Ability to develop a solid understanding of Epic applications
  • Ability to understand healthcare business workflows
  • Solid and effective written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail 
  • Ability to work in a dynamic development environment and adjust to frequently changing priorities and project plans 
  • Ability to work effectively with management, team members, and colleagues from other departments and projects

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
