Assistant Professor

Job Description

Position Description:

The Program in Chemical Biology invites applications for tenure-track positions at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels. We seek individuals to establish internationally leading programs that apply the tools of chemical biology or medicinal chemistry (e.g. structure-based methods for drug discovery, combinatorial chemistry, hit-to-lead optimization, drug development, and chemoproteomics) to topics of biomedical relevance. Candidates with research interests in epigenetics (e.g. histone binding/modifying proteins), G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling, metabolism, and neuropsychiatric or anticancer agents are especially encouraged to apply. Competitive salary support, a generous benefits package and start-up funds, and outstanding opportunities for collaboration with basic, translational, and clinical investigators will be provided.

How do you apply? The review of applications will commence on October 14, 2022, and continue until positions are filled. For inquiries, contact Dr. Brian Smith, Chair, Chemical Biology Recruitment Committee (brismith@mcw.edu ). To apply, send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, copies of key publications, and three reference letters electronically as separate pdf files to: chembio@mcw.edu .

Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)|MCW (www.mcw.edu ) is the 3rd largest private medical school in the country, conducting over $200M annually in externally funded research and over $145M from the NIH. MCW is home to state-of-the-art X-ray, NMR, and chemical synthesis facilities with ready access to shared resources for high-performance computing. MCW is also home to a Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (ctsi.mcw.edu). Institutional disease-focused initiatives and established centers for cardiovascular, neuroscience, infectious disease, (epi)genetics, and cancer research provide translational opportunities for structure-based drug discovery in many areas.

Position Requirements:
Whom are we looking for? Applicants must have a doctoral degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, pharmacology or related discipline, postdoctoral training, a strong publication record in designing and synthesizing small molecule inhibitors or chemical probes to investigate biomolecules of therapeutic relevance, and the potential to obtain extramural funding. MCW intends to attract, develop, and retain a workforce and faculty body that celebrates diversity of thought and respects freedom of expression.
