Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Consultant for the Department of Administration within the University Correctional Health Care. Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Business Consultant provides advanced level consultation as it relates to development and management of health services and the associated organizational operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following;
  • Provides advanced-level consultative services for UCHC, actively supporting, representing and interpreting Rutgers and UCHC goals and objectives in interactions with external agencies and internal departments.
  • Facilitates and coordinates UCHC interface with funding sources, oversight entities, state officials and with other Rutgers departments.
  • Supports program and service development through grant writing and through assistance with the implementation of new grants.
  • Analyzes the efficiency and effectiveness of current operations, gathering and evaluating data and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Functions as change manager by monitoring implementation of operational improvements, providing overall guidance and specific coaching to supervisors and staff.
  • Participates in ensuring established professional and ethical standards of Rutgers and UCHC.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree required in Health Care Administration, Informatics or related health care discipline, plus seven (7) years of progressively responsible postgraduate experience in a relevant health care setting.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Outstanding human relations, communications, analytics, report writing and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Extensive typing/report preparations, extensive reading, frequently talking and listening in large groups of people as well as on the telephone.
  • Extended sitting.
  • Ability to move from unit to unit within a Facility and to climb stairs.
  • Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 40 pounds), hearing is essential; ability to speak clearly.
  • Frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls.
  • Required to travel within the State.
  • Able to function in a stressful environment and relates well to the patient, security staff and health care team members.
  • Most of the time will be working within a professional office environment outside of a secure care setting.
  • Must be prepared to enter a crisis oriented, secure care environment where UCHC’s health care staff work with adult inmates and residents, some who have exhibited aggressive, threatening behavior.
  • Entering and movement within the secure facilities will be controlled by Correctional Officers.
Special Conditions
  • Must be approved by the New Jersey Department of Corrections.
  • Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJDOC and the assigned facility(ies) including, but not limited to sign-in logs or electronic time clocks, searches of person and property, etc.
  • Violations of NJDOC policies and/or being banned by the NJDOC to work at a NJDOC secure care facility are grounds for disciplinary action and potential termination.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
