Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population. Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the program and MassBay Community College. The faculty member is responsible for maintaining expertise in the discipline.

MassBay seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative professional full-time, tenure-track Early Childhood Education faculty to teach first- and second-year Early Childhood Education courses, including Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Curriculum, Art and Music for Early Childhood, Administration for Early Childhood Education Programs, Supervision in Early Childhood Education, Infants and Toddlers, Children’s Literature, Child Development, and other Early Childhood Education electives at our campuses. The successful candidate will take an active role in the Business and Professional Studies Division and teach a full-time (approximately 15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Early Childhood Education and related courses, some of which may occur in the evening with mutual agreement.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach full time at the Framingham and/or Wellesley Hills campuses, including day, evening and/or online courses, as assigned;
  • Prepare course syllabi and develop curricula to meet course and program requirements and student learning outcomes;
  • Serve as academic advisor to students;
  • Participate in the improvement and development of academic programs and resources;
  • Serve on College committees as elected or appointed;
  • Attend Program, Department, Division, and Committee meetings;
  • Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
  • Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate, including the use of the
  • College’s learning management system;
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Engage in conversations with colleagues and students regarding best practices within the discipline or programmatic related to equity and inclusion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Master’s Degree in Education (with specialization in Early Childhood, Special Education, or related fields) from an accredited college or university;
  • Two or more years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience teaching Early Childhood Education or related courses.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Earned Doctorate degree;
  • 5 years’ experience in the Early Childhood field;
  • Community college teaching experience strongly preferred;
  • Knowledge of community college academic programs, services and culture;
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care's regulations pertaining to staff, its priorities and directives;
  • Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Career Pathways Grant in Education, including curriculum development, recruitment, and advising;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural, and non-traditional students;
  • Prior experience teaching online courses;
  • Effective use of materials and assignments that develop the writing and critical thinking skills of students and integrate the cultural wealth each student brings to the classroom;
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;

Additional Information:


Salary Range:
 $48,811 - $51,939, in accordance with one's education and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure.
