Job Summary

The Workforce and Community Programs (WCP) Navigator is responsible for leading recruitment, outreach, retention, completion, and enrollment goals of the WCP Department and the Career Forward Program. They are also responsible for serving as the primary liaison between Colorado Workforce Centers and Arapahoe Community College (ACC).

This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2024, with funding from the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) Community Partner Program (CPP) for Displaced Workers. Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued funding.

The primary goal of the CPP grant is to recruit, retain, enroll, and job place at least 225 individuals between the ages of 25-34 with minimal post-secondary experience that have been displaced by the coronavirus pandemic into certificate and degree programs which align to the Colorado Top Jobs in Healthcare, Information and Technology, and Manufacturing. This goal is to be completed by the end of the grant cycle; ACC is close to completing this grant goal which is in its third year.

The WCP Navigator attends community, industry, and ACC sponsored events to recruit new and returning students to credit and non-credit programs. They also provide student support activities such as: information sessions, and workshops in career exploration, time management, and financial wellbeing. The Navigator will work closely and partner with several ACC departments such as: Admissions, Marketing, Records and Enrollment Services, Career Services, Fiscal Services, Financial Aid and the ACC Foundation. They must be able to occasionally work evening and/or weekend hours to accommodate outreach and recruitment events.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working in a career or academic advising setting, or postsecondary recruitment.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience developing, marketing, and implementing workshops and programs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Experience and comfortable with presenting in front of a variety of group settings.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, administrator, and employer stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and use of the web

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with career exploration resources and assessment tools.
  • Experience working at a local or regional Workforce Center.
  • Experience working with student information systems, customer information systems or databases, or other relationship management software such as Banner, Navigate, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, etc.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout ACC's service area to community, industry, and ACC-sponsored events.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

Advertised Salary Range

Salary range for this position is $47,321 - $53,000, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
