The Department of Accounting within the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invites applications for one non-tenure Instructional Track Faculty Position in Accounting at the level of Lecturer starting August 16, 2023. This position comes with a 1-3 year contract and benefits. This position may range from 50% time (teaching 4 classes/year) to 100% time (teaching 8 classes/year) depending upon our teaching needs and a candidate’s ability to teach upper level financial classes, graduate level courses including in our MBA and Finance programs. This position requires the candidate to teach a minimum of 3 courses in the undergraduate accounting, Masters of Accountancy or MBA curriculums including Managerial Accounting and Intermediate Financial Accounting. Faculty also serve the department and college as part of their appointment, including participation in college and department activities, committees, boards and student organizations. For more information about the Instructional Faculty policy, refer to the Operations Manual, III 10.11.


Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Appropriate background checks (e.g. criminal background and credential checks) will be conducted.

Education Requirement:

A master’s in accounting or a related field is required.


Required Qualifications:

This position requires the candidate to teach a minimum of 3 courses in the undergraduate accounting, Masters of Accountancy or MBA curriculums including Managerial Accounting and Intermediate Financial Accounting. Candidates must be able to teach courses in at least two subject areas (financial, managerial, tax, or AIS). Candidates must have experience incorporating analytics in their teaching. The candidate must be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education with demonstrated evidence of a commitment to diversity in the educational community.


Desirable Qualifications:

CPA certification. Extensive industry experience with accounting analytics, managerial accounting, accounting information systems or financial reporting, or significant academic experience teaching financial or managerial classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level is desirable.
