Position Description


We are currently seeking innovative, inventive, and self-driven Postdoctoral Associates within the lab of Dr. Leemor Joshua-Tor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The Joshua-Tor lab studies the structure and mechanism of gene silencing pathways as well as DNA replication. To get a complete understanding of how these processes, the team employs structural, biochemical, biophysical and molecular biology approaches to study how key proteins work at the molecular level. The lab enjoys extremely frequent access to a Titan Krios cryo-electron microscope equipped with a Gatan K3 camera. They also have a screening microscope (Talos 120C), and a chameleon system for grid preparation was just installed in addition to Vitrobot and Leica plungers. There is an excellent fully equipped and soon to be upgraded X-ray facility, crystallization robots and fantastic computational resources including high-performance and GPU computers. Combined with the nearby NSLS-II, these are exciting times with exciting capabilities. The lab is also equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for studying macromolecular interactions, and CSHL has an array of cutting-edge core facilities .
To foster a diverse, collaborative research setting, we consider candidates from a broad range of backgrounds including structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology. We are currently open to considering both entry-level Postdoctoral Associates, as well as candidates who are further along in the postdoctoral journey.
This role is perfect for you if you are looking to do groundbreaking science in a new area within an established and well-respected lab. We are hoping to find someone who is incredibly motivated, self-directed, collaborative, and passionate about pushing the bounds of what we know of science.

Position Requirements

Qualifications: General Qualifications:
PhD. in biology, chemistry or physics, with experience in structural biology or biochemistry. Prior experience with CryoEM a strong plus. Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative group environment. Effective communication skills, thoughtful and creative.
