Job Summary

The Student Success Coordinator is a multi-faceted role that will promote the success of our nursing students from their admission to their graduation. You will support the academic success of our students working with them directly by identifying barriers to their success, assisting with their learning processes along with their clinical skills and reasoning and connecting them to resources for additional support. In addition, you will collaborate with lead and clinical faculty, academic advisors, staff and other departments/schools to develop a holistic, individualized plan for their success while monitoring and analyzing student referrals and performance indicators including progression, retention and graduation.

The Student Success Coordinator will report directly to the Dean

Responsibilities*

  • Collaborate with lead and clinical faculty to develop a holistic, individualized plan for success with incoming and continuing students based on their learning needs.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors and lead faculty on academic alerts.
  • Leverage university resources/make referrals, e.g., Disability and Accessibility Support Services; Counseling and Psychological Services, etc.
  • Collaborate with lead faculty to confirm compliance with the progression contracts.
  • Help plan recruitment events (e.g., summer camps); plan and implement summer and winter student enrichment events.
  • Monitor and analyze student referrals and performance indicators including progression, retention, graduation.
  • Submit annual reports for the Student Success Committee (SSC) to the undergraduate and graduate faculty committees and dean.
  • Serve as ex officio member of UG Academic Standards Committee (ASC).
  • Develop and implement strategies that will effectively remediate students and promote confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with the staff of the SON-Simulation and Clinical Innovation Center.
  • Contribute as active participant in development, implementation, and evaluation of Holistic Admissions and support related activities.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Master's of Science in Nursing preferred (or a Master's degree in a related area).
  • Current unencumbered Michigan Registered Nurse License
  • 2 or more years of experience in counseling, student advising, teaching or mentoring
  • Demonstrated history of supporting, advocating for, and/or leading DEI initiatives and values

Desired Qualifications*

  • Prior instructional experience in a baccalaureate nursing program to include both didactic and clinical teaching
  • Experience with student or employee success programs

Work Schedule

Hybrid:

A consistent hybrid work schedule (some days on campus and some days working remotely) is available for this position at this time. However, this is subject to change based upon the duties of the position and the needs of the department.
