Summary
Instruction of lecture and laboratory components in undergraduate courses in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences for the fall and winter terms (8/28/2023 – 4/30/2024) at 100% effort. This includes development, updating, preparation, and delivery of lectures and laboratory exercises; grading exams and homework assignments; supervision of Graduate Student Instructors; grading of assignments, quizzes, and exams; and meeting with students during office hours.
Course Description
EARTH 103: Dinosaurs & Other Failures (1 credit) Fall & Winter
EARTH 408: Introduction to GIS in the Earth Sciences (3 credits) Fall & Winter
EARTH 107: Volcanoes and Earthquakes (1 credit) Fall Only
Qualified candidate(s) will be considered for all courses, if qualified, or for a single course. Appointments are available for the Fall Term 2023 and Winter Term 2024 (August 28, 2023 – April 30, 2024). Candidates must be able to teach onsite, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor campus. Courses are not offered online.
Terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to the provisions of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the University of Michigan and the Lecturers Employee Organization.
Required Qualifications*
To be considered for a position, you must hold a Ph.D. in Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field; have experience instructing geology or earth and environmental sciences to undergraduates at both the introductory and upper course levels. In addition, experience instructing laboratory courses and evidence of excellence in teaching is preferred.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
