Summary

The video intern will join the Department of Communication’s digital arts team to help promote Michigan Medicine’s clinical care, research, news and innovative education and approaches to the world. Successful candidates will have a demo reel and samples showcasing their creativity and quality of work. Excellent verbal communication skills, adaptability, quick thinking, and enthusiasm are required. This role will have to manage multiple projects at a time within a fast-paced environment.

Job details

  • Work to be performed on site at the Department of Communication
  • Job limited to mid-May to mid-August 2020
  • 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, some weekends and evenings required

Responsibilities*

  • Assist in the production of high quality audio/video media and photography.
  • Responsible for assembling raw material into a finished video product suitable for broadcasting or posting online.  
  • Generate final product for clients including uploading to social media sites and posting to a staging site.
  • Conceptualize video and photo concepts and brainstorm with team members on the best approach.
  • Work with the team to capture photographs for assigned stories.
  • Create and edit closed captions for new and archived video projects.

Required Qualifications*

Open to currently enrolled college students. Video demo reel or samples of work required. Experience with photography and animation is a plus. Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop. Must be comfortable in a multi-layered organization with complex reporting relationships. Must be comfortable lifting at least 15 lbs.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
