Job Summary

The Director of Marketing & Communications oversees all marketing functions for the College, which includes social media, digital, broadcast and print. The Director manages, creates and maintains the College’s social media accounts. The Director of Marketing & Communications oversees the production of and creates graphic arts and printed publications and also supervises staff responsible who assist with production of posters, fliers and other marketing/recruitment material. In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing that photographs and video are taken of college events and instructional programs as requested. This Director Of Marketing & Communications assists with writing press releases and relaying pertinent information to local news media. The Director of Marketing & Communications creates the College’s recruiting message and image.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising or related field
Minimum of two years’ marketing experience to include experience in graphic design
Excellent computer skills—must be proficient using Adobe products including In-Design and PhotoShop
Thorough knowledge of social media trends and ability to use social media to promote College messages
Ability to effectively manage time and priorities in order to meet established deadlines
Understanding of marketing outreach methods to effectively communicate the educational opportunities, branding messages and mission of the College
Detail-oriented and highly organized
Ability to work in a team environment with multiple, sometimes changing priorities
Strong communication, leadership and presentation skills
Ability to formulate and manage delivery of messages through multiple outreach methods, such as printed publications, web-based, digital and broadcast media
Excellent writing and proofing skills
Must possess valid Texas Driver License, good driving record and be insurable on Midland College auto insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree
Community college experience

Essential Functions

Develop marketing strategies and direct activities which communicate to external constituents a positive, progressive institutional image consistent with the vision and mission of the College
Manage College advertising budget
Coordinate with Student Services and Instructional divisions to develop and produce college recruitment material
Coordinate with Instructional Program personnel to ensure that marketable skills are maintained for each instructional program.
Manage activities with contracted ad agency to create cohesive branding and messaging.
Maintain an effective program of internal and student-focused communication activities that foster and promote awareness of the College’s activities and successes
Create institutional advertising designed to support the objectives of the College in order to promote a growing and representative enrollment for the College and its educational programs
Provide proofing for marketing materials as well as oversight for major recruitment publications and printed materials
Serve on College or advisory committees as needed to provide input and support regarding matters that affect marketing
Provide oversight to ensure that Midland College activities are promoted and photographed
Oversee, create and maintain College social media accounts and the use of social media for recruitment, promotion of events and generation of goodwill
Create posters, fliers and other print material for recruitment, event promotion, etc.
Assist the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement with special events to include lecture and performing arts series, groundbreakings, press conferences, etc.
Manage communications with local media teams, which includes Coordinating and assisting with press releases and, media advisories.

The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive from office to other locations on and off campus
Duties indoors and some outdoors
Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
Travel for training, meetings and events both in and out of town

Security Sensitivity

All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary

$63,500 (annualized salary)

Max Salary

$75,000 (annualized salary)

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
